Meet Lena

Ms. Engel focuses her practice on representing school districts in general purchasing and business transactions, governance, and real estate matters. In addition to providing day-to-day consulting for her clients in these areas, she advises her clients regarding all phases of contract negotiations, including public procurement and governance concerns. Ms. Engel has extensive experience preparing and negotiating vendor and interlocal contracts, and specializes in transactions involving technology-related purchases and leases, including software development and licensing, hardware, implementation, maintenance and support, and related services. Prior to attending law school, Ms. Engel worked for two Fortune 500 companies, where she initially held a position in business engineering and project management and subsequently assumed a role in business management.

Ms. Engel received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1999. In 2009, Ms. Engel graduated summa cum laude from South Texas College of Law. She was a Langdell Scholar, on the Dean’s List, and a member of the Order of the Lytae. She received an American Jurisprudence Award, the Bodman Foundation Award for Outstanding Legal Writing, and First Place and Best Brief Awards at the Spurgeon E. Bell Moot Court Competition. Ms. Engel previously practiced at McGinnis Lochridge; Ogden, Gibson, Brooks, Longoria & Hall, LLP; and Rogers, Morris & Grover, LLP. Ms. Engel is a member of the State Bar of Texas School Law Section, the State Bar of Texas Computer and Technology Section, the Texas Council of School Attorneys, the National Counsel of School Attorneys, the Houston Grand Opera Opening Nights for Young Professionals Advisory Committee and the Houston Grand Opera Young Patrons.
