Ms. Karczewski began her legal career in 1992 as an Assistant Attorney General with the Texas Attorney General’s office where she defended state agencies and universities in civil rights and employment discrimination litigation. This work presented a natural transition into representing public school districts, where she has spent the vast majority of her professional career. Ms. Karczewski works with public school districts across the state, big and small, but focuses largely on the rural districts located in East and South East Texas. Ms. Karczewski provides general counsel services, primarily in the areas of governance, personnel, student rights and discipline. She is a member of both the Texas and National School Board Association’s Council of School Attorneys. Ms. Karczewski conducts numerous trainings for school districts, educational service centers, educational organizations and associations. In 2009 Ms. Karczewski, in partnership with the Region 7 Education Service Center, founded eTrain Advantage, an on-line training library utilized annually by school districts to train literally thousands of East Texas teachers and administrators on timely school law matters.
Ms. Karczewski has served as adjunct professor for the Stephen F. Austin State University Department of Education, teaching in the educational leadership program as well as preparing curriculum content. In 2014, Ms. Karczewski received an Annual Woman of the Year Special Service Award by the Nacogdoches Branch of the American Association of University Women as a Business Honoree in recognition of her contributions to the field of education. Ms. Karczewski sits on the Executive Committee of the State Bar of Texas School Law Section and is a frequent speaker at school law conferences.
